And the script writing begins!

Hello Friends,

It’s been a while since we checked in here on the blog but rest assured we have all been hard at work.  Here’s the highlights of where the project is currently at:

1.  With over 100 hours of recorded dialogue, the bulk of our first phase story gathering process is drawing to a close and Mary Wright is beginning to pen the script for our April 2014 production!  We’ve even had our first design and production meetings.  This original production, taking place at Touchstone Theatre, will be the initial distilling of all of our gathered material and will serve as the bedrock for our April 2015 outdoor production taking place at the Greenways Harmony Pavilion.

2.  Deng Dafei and He Hai of the multidisciplinary artists collective “Utopia Group” have officially signed on as our international partners and will be joining us for multiple residencies over the next year and a half.  We couldn’t be happier to have such accomplished artists joining the team to help create the yet untitled April 2015 production.  Please visit their website to check out more about the incredible work our new friends are doing at http://www.utopiaart.org.

3.  Last but not least for this update…  The National Endowment for the Arts has chosen to help fund our project!  Not only does it help us financially, but it is a reaffirmation to all of us that we here at Touchstone continue to fight the good fight and are doing it at such a level that we can continue to receive such competitive funding.

That’s it for now.  Thank you all for your continued support and from all of us here at Journey from the East central, have a happy and prosperous holiday season!

Jp
